Fourteen political parties have endorsed a peace agreement ahead of the upcoming local government elections in Kwara State on September 21, 2024.
During the peace accord ceremony at the Kwara State Independent National Electoral Commission (KWSIEC) headquarters in Ilorin, leaders of various political parties present took their turns to sign the agreement on behalf of their respective parties.
The political parties represented included Action People’s Party (APP), All Progressives Congress (APC), Labour Party (LP), Young People’s Party (YPP), All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Accord (A), and Action Alliance (AA), among others.

Okanla expressed satisfaction with the conduct of political parties and urged them to resolve grievances through lawful means.
He emphasized the importance of peace and order, warning that violence will not be tolerated.
Okanla also encouraged candidates to run peaceful campaigns.
In their remarks, APC Chairman Prince Sunday Fagbemi praised the state electoral body for its dedication, while IPAC Deputy Chairman Adeshina Ajisafe thanked KWSIEC for promoting peace and inclusivity.
Ajisafe encouraged parties to continue on the path of peace.
