On Thursday, police charged a 27-year-old man, Yusuf Ali, with stealing a motorcycle and causing a disturbance.
Ali, who has no fixed address, appeared before the Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ado-Ekiti on two charges: theft and breach of peace.
The prosecutor, Inspector Akinwale Oriyomi, informed the court that the alleged crime occurred on September 10 at around 10:00 a.m. in the Irona area of Ado-Ekiti. He claimed that Ali, along with other accomplices who are still at large, stole a red Bajaj motorcycle valued at N900,000, which belonged to Olawhale Empire Multibiz Venture.

Oriyomi further alleged that the defendant and his accomplices acted in a way that could disturb the peace. He noted that their actions violated Sections 302 and 181(d) of the Ekiti State Criminal Law, 2021.
The prosecutor requested that the court adjourn the case to allow him to review the case file and gather his witnesses.
In response, Ali pleaded not guilty to the charges against him. His lawyer, Mr. Sunday Balogun, asked the court to grant bail for his client, assuring the court that Ali would not abscond.
Chief Magistrate Mr. Abayomi Adeosun approved bail for Ali in the amount of N250,000, requiring one surety in a similar amount. The court adjourned the case until October 7 for further hearings.
