Shooting Stars coach Gbenga Ogunbote has criticised his side’s defending after the Oluyole Warriors 2-2 stalemate against Remo Stars in a Nigerian Professional Football League South West Derby on Wednesday, reports.
After a goalless first half, an own goal from Otakho Aghahowa in the 60th minute after good footwork by Andy Okpe and a sublime strike from Godwin Odibo minutes later was all the Sky Blues needed to record their second victory over 3SC in five meetings.
The former Enugu Rangers coach said his players have to change their mentality if they wanted to be successful, after admitting he was “annoyed” by the defeat.
“We have to do better than we did today (Wednesday) if we must achieve our aims this season,” Ogunbote said.
“Maybe in the next couple of hours, we will realise we are not in a good position. We are in a good process, but at this moment I am annoyed. I also told the players if we want to win, we have to change our mentality.”
The result sees Remo Stars amass nine points from three games, scoring five goals and are yet to concede this season, while 3SC are ninth in the 10-club NPFL standings, after recording two draws and a defeat.
Remo will face Bendel Insurance away in their next game on Saturday, while Shooting Stars host El-Kanemi Warriors at the Lekan Salami Stadium in Ibadan on Sunday.
