More than 5.7 million people across 11 local government areas of Kaduna State have benefitted from a basic package of nutrition and adolescent health services provided by the Accelerating Nutrition Results in Nigeria (ANRIN) project.

Malam Mohammed-Murtala Ibrahim, Project Director for Society for Family Health’s (SFH’s) ANRIN project in Kaduna State, disclosed this during a visit to the Emir of Zazzau, Malam Ahmed Bamalli, who is the Nutrition Ambassador, to update him on the project’s achievements in the state.

Ibrahim noted that the emir’s support had significantly influenced community acceptance and the overall success of the project and appealed for his continued support to ensure the project’s sustainability.

SFH, acting as a non-state actor, implements ANRIN in Kaduna State with the mandate to increase access to and utilisation of an integrated community-based basic package of nutrition services and adolescent health services. The project targets children under five years of age, pregnant and lactating women and adolescent girls.

In his remarks, Emir Bamalli pledged to support ANRIN in extending and sustaining the programme,  and appealed to the government and other key stakeholders to adopt additional measures to enhance access to quality and affordable healthcare services in the state.
