A 53-year-old man, Henry Adedeji, who was diagnosed with End-Stage Kidney Disease (ESKD) is seeking N18 million for a kidney transplant.

End-Stage Kidney Disease (ESKD), also known as End-Stage Renal Disease (ESRD), represents the final stage of chronic kidney disease where the kidneys are no longer able to adequately function to meet the body’s requirements.

This condition highlights the critical need for timely medical attention and appropriate treatment options to sustain vital organ function and improve quality of life.

The Guardian learnt that Adedeji was diagnosed with the disease in September 2022 in a private hospital before he was referred to Afe Babalola Hospital in Ado Ekiti, Ekiti State, for thorough medical assessment.

The 53-year-old explained that he is on maintenance dialysis thrice weekly at a cost of N150,000, excluding bills for medications. He said it is becoming a struggle for him and his family members to keep up.

He said: “The nephrologist recommended the transplant, but it comes with a significant price tag of approximately N18 million at Afe Babalola Hospital. I’m currently jobless. That is why I’m seeking financial help through the Gifting Volunteer Network. My family supports me, but majority are civil servants. I can’t do this alone. Hence, I’ve turned to kindhearted Nigerians through The Guardian to save my life.”

A consultant at Afe Babalola Hospital, Dr Olusegun Aremu, who spoke with The Guardian, confirmed the urgency and seriousness of the case, saying it’s in its final stage.

Adedeji could be assisted through Wema Bank Account Number:0289075993,  Account Name: Adedeji Olutoyin Henry.
