Ahead of the 2024 Lotus Bank Abeokuta 10KM Race, organized by Nilayo Sports Management Limited (NSML), kit distribution commenced on Monday, 23rd September, at the Cultural Center in Kuto, Abeokuta.
According to the organizers, kit collection, along with exhibitions, health talks, and other side attractions, will continue until 27th September, while the race itself will take place on Saturday, 28th September.
A record-breaking 6,000 runners, including elite athletes, have registered for this year’s event, themed ‘For Greatness,’ which will form part of the celebrations marking the birthday of the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo.
The 10km race will kick off at Iyana Oloke at 6 a.m., finishing at the Alake Palace, where a post-race concert will be held.
Kenya’s Peter Nwaniki is the reigning men’s champion, while Shamila Kisirir, also from Kenya, holds the women’s title.
