At least seven commuters have been reported dead in a tragic auto crash at Hayin Gada along the Saminaka-Kaduna highway.

It was gathered that the incident occurred around 10 a.m. on Saturday, involving a J5 Peugeot with registration number TRN 861XL 08 AA and a Bajaj Boxer motorcycle.

Daily Trust learnt that a combined team from the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Pambegua Unit Command, and local vigilantes responded to the crash.

Confirming the incident, the state Sector Commander of the FRSC, Kabir Y. Nadabo, said initial investigations revealed that the crash was caused by wrongful overtaking and speeding.

“A J5 Peugeot with registration number TRN 861XL 08 AA, carrying five people on board, crashed into a Bajaj Boxer with no registration number, resulting in the deaths of the driver and passenger of the Bajaj.

“Further investigation revealed that the driver of the J5, Abdul Shakur Adam, lost control of his vehicle and rammed into the Bajaj, causing the instant death of all seven passengers, including the Bajaj driver and passenger,” he said.

According to him, the corpses were conveyed to the General Hospital Pambegua, where they were confirmed dead.

The sector commander expressed sadness over this monumental loss and extended condolences to the families of the deceased.

He explained that the Pambegua-Saminaka route is considered one of the safest in Kaduna, where very few crashes occur due to ongoing road reconstruction.

He reiterated that the corps would continue to discourage night journeys, excessive speeding, overloading, and the lack of seat belt use as the ember season approached.

He cautioned drivers to observe general road ethics to travel safely during the yuletide period and beyond, adding that the FRSC was committed to ensuring the roads are safe for all commuters.
