    The death of trailblazing Nigerian filmmaker and founder of the African Movie Academy Awards, Peace Anyiam-Osigwe, was announced on Tuesday morning.

    Anyiam-Osigwe, who was also the President of the Association of Movie Producers, died in a hospital in Lagos State.

    Here are 10 things to know about Anyiam-Osigwe;

    1. Anyiam-Osigwe was born on March 30, 1969

    2. She was the only girl out of eight children

    3. She hailed from Nkwerre in Imo State

    4. She had a degree in Law and Political Science from Oxford Brookes University in England

    5. Anyiam-Osigwe founded the Africa Film Academy in 2005, with the award ceremony reputed to be one of the most recognised awards for Africans in film-making

    6. In 2015, she began the AfricaOne initiative to commemorate Africans in the entertainment industry.

    7. In 2020, she emerged as the National President of The Association of Movie Producers

    8. Anyiam-Osigwe was an author of written poetry with three books to her credit

    9. In 2019, she was honoured with the African Film Pioneer Award at The African Film Festival

    10. Anyiam-Osigwe’s career on television began with her discussion show, ‘Piece off my mind’
