    Ahead of the Christmas and New Year celebrations, the Commissioner of Police in Imo state, Aboki Danjuma, has strengthened security in communities in the state.

    Danjuma said the plan was to ensure that the people of the state enjoyed a crime-free Christmas and New Year celebrations.

    The CP who spoke on Thursday when he visited Aro Ofeimo Junction, Amuro, Ama Mmadubuike, New General Hospital Aro Umulolo, Okigwe Police Divisional Headquarters and Area Command, Eke Okigwe Market, Army Base, and Garki Market, Okigwe asked the insurgents to vacate the state.

    The Okigwe area of the state has been under the siege of terrorists for two years now.

    Danjuma said his command was taking the war to the dens of the insurgents, saying the residents of the area had a right to enjoy the Christmas and New Year holidays.

    Asking the people to come home for the season, the CP said the command had adopted overt and covert plans in dealing with infractions in the state.

    The command’s spokesperson, Henry Okoye, who briefed journalists said, “The Commissioner of Police, Imo State Command,  Aboki Danjuma, alongside his management team and other officers and men of the command during his familiarisation tour and confidence-building patrol to Okigwe areas visited Aro Ofeimo Junction, Amuro, Ama Mmadubuike, New General Hospital Aro Umulolo, Okigwe Police Divisional Headquarters and Area Command, Eke Okigwe Market, Army Base, and Garki Market, Okigwe.

    “During the visit, the CP reaffirmed the command’s commitment to ensuring maximum safety and security of the law-abiding residents of the state during and after the Yuletide.”
