The Supreme Court will on Thursday (today) decide whether or not Ahmed Aliyu will continue as the governor of Sokoto State.
The PDP candidate in the March 18 governorship election, Sai’du Umar, is contesting the victory of Aliyu who is of the All Progressives Congress.

Umar and his party has first approached the Election Petitions Tribunal which dismissed his petition and validated the election of Governor Aliyu.
Not satisfied, they filed an appeal at the Court of Appeal. The appellate court also affirmed Aliyu as governor.
It remains to be seen whether the Supreme Court will uphold some or all of the nine grounds upon which they want the judgements of the tribunal and the Court of Appeal set aside.
