A truck driver with ALACC MAC Group located at Almadu Bello Way, Victoria Island, Lagos, Sunday Folorunsho, 39, has been arrested by the Police at the Bar Beach division, Victoria Island, Lagos and charged before a Lagos Magistrate’s Court for allegedly stealing his employer’s 2,137 litres of diesel within a period of time.

Folorunsho allegedly converted the diesel valued at N3,419,200 to his use and in the process deprived his employers of the expected revenue accruable to them.

Police alleged that the defendant perpetrated the alleged theft by stealing parts of the diesel he was entrusted to supply to customers, adding that the complainant uncovered the theft when it conducted a forensic audit of the diesel the defendant had been entrusted to supply customers.

After an investigation by Inspector Patience Eguabor and team, Folorunsho was charged before the Tinubu Magistrate’s Court, Lagos Island on a two-count charge bordering on conspiracy and stealing.

Police counsel, Mr Ben Ekundayo informed the Court that the defendant committed the offence on 26 February 2024 at ALACC MAC Group located at Almadu Bello Way, Victoria Island, Lagos.

Ekundayo told the Court that the defendant betrayed the trust the complainant reposed in him as their diesel truck driver by stealing the diesel entrusted in his care to deliver to customers and in the process deprived his employers of the revenue accruable to them.

He said the offences the defendant committed were punishable under sections 411 and 287 (7) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges and Magistrate M.E Owunmi granted him N1m bail with two sureties in like sum who must have three years of tax payment to the Lagos State Government.

Owunmi adjourned the case till 11 June 2024 for mention and ordered that the defendant be detained at the Ikoyi correctional facility till he perfected the bail conditions.
