A suit seeking to stop the sacked Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero and prevent the four other dethroned emirs from parading themselves as traditional rulers, has been adjourned till July 2.

A Kano State High Court presided over by Justice Amina Adamu Aliyu took the decision on Monday when the matter resumed for hearing.

Already, a Federal High Court in Kano, had last week ordered a reversal of the dethronement of Ado-Bayero and the Emirs of Bichi, Rano, Karaye and Gaya Emirates.

The Court had set aside all steps taken by the Kano State Government to repeal the Kano Emirates Council Law (2019), which split Kano Emirates into five namely: Kano, Bichi, Rano, Karaye and Gaya Emirates with First Class Emirs.

Justice Abdullahi Muhammad Liman, had disregarded the repeal of Kano Emirate Law (2019) by Kano State Government, as he ordered all the parties to maintain status quo.

The ruling had created an impasse of sorts even as the Kano State Government claimed that the ruling validated the reinstatement of Sanusi Lamido as Emir.
