The first young mayor of schoolchildren in North Tyneside Council, United Kingdom, Mr Olamide John Akinropo on Friday took his heartthrob Vanessa Damte down the aisle in London.

The traditional ceremony took place in Dalston, London on Friday 5 July 2024 while the white wedding took place at the prestigious Crowne Plaza Gerrards Cross, Beaconsfield.

The bride, an associate physician with NHS was born and bred in London while the groom, a graduate of Mathematics with finance from the University of Liverpool and taxation from Manchester Metropolitan University, moved to the UK from Nigeria with his parents, Kayode and Iyabode Akinropo and younger brother, Ife in 2006 when he was twelve years of age.

At barely age 15 as a student at Burnside Business and Enterprise College, Wallsend, the bright Olamide was elected the first Young Mayor by Schoolchildren in North Tyneside. He worked in collaboration with the borough’s Elected Mayor John Harrison and had a say in how a sum £25,000 in the council’s budget would be spent on initiatives to benefit the young people which he represented.

The lovebirds’ matrimonial union moment proved to be a day of abundant joy for their families, friends and well-wishers who thronged the memorable event.

The elated father of the bridegroom, Mr Kayode Joseph Akinropo who is an English Language teacher in the UK and author of the raving novel, SCARS DO HEAL, could not hide his joy as he dedicated his novel’s promo page of Monday 8 July 2024 to what he described as “the successful legal, traditional and spiritual wedding of Mr. Ọlamide & Mrs. Vanessa Akinrọpo which took place in London recently.”

Akinropo expressed appreciation on behalf of the couple and that of the family to all who attended the events and “numerous other people who couldn’t come but called and sent messages to rejoice with us from Nigeria, Canada, Ghana, America, Republic of Ireland & United Kingdom.”

According to him, “One thing is this, you all did that to honour God and us. And our God will continue to HONOUR ALL OF YOU. Your prayers, calls, support, gifts, pieces of advice and presence made all the difference! Without all those, there was no way the marriage ceremonies would have been a huge success! That’s just the fact!

“We thank our dear Ghanaian in-laws for allowing their beautiful daughter to be part of our family. Their prayers, cooperation, support, gifts and presence surprised us.

“THANK YOU SO MUCH OUR NEW FAMILY! As we promised, our Lord Jesus will help all of us to take good care of Vanessa.”

Akinropo also had words for the couple: “To the newest couple in town, well done. May your marriage be fruitful and be a role model for the world to copy. Keep remembering wonderful pieces of advice given to you by wonderful people on how to make your union work. They’re priceless! We pray God, the Author of marriage, give you wisdom to do the work.

“Ọlamide & Vanessa, today, go with this quote from Martin Luther, ‘There is no more lovely, friendly, and charming relationship, communion or company than a good marriage.’”
