The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) on Saturday deployed more than 100 trucks to the Dangote Refinery in Ibeju-Lekki in preparation to begin lifting petrol.
The Dangote Refinery is set to commence the supply of petroleum products to the market starting Sunday, September 15, 2024.
In a post on its X (formerly Twitter) handle, NNPCL announced that it has been mobilizing trucks to the refinery’s fuel loading gantry in anticipation of the scheduled petrol loading.
“As of Saturday afternoon, NNPC Ltd. had deployed over 100 trucks, with hundreds more en route,” the company stated.
Meanwhile, the Lagos State Government has developed a comprehensive traffic management plan to ensure smooth traffic flow along the Lekki-Ajah corridor as the Dangote Refinery begins operations.
The strategy is designed to accommodate the distribution and lifting of refined petrol from the refinery starting Sunday.

Sola Giwa, Special Adviser to the Governor on Transportation, confirmed that the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has been equipped with modern technology and trained personnel. These resources will be strategically positioned to manage traffic in the affected areas.
Giwa reassured residents and commuters in the Lekki-Ajah area that the government is fully prepared, urging them to remain calm and confident in the state’s ability to manage the situation effectively.
He further explained that, in collaboration with relevant stakeholders, LASTMA has mobilized advanced tow trucks and emergency response equipment to swiftly address any potential traffic disruptions. Medical ambulance services are also on standby to ensure quick response in case of emergencies.
As the Dangote Refinery begins operations, Giwa emphasized the importance of strict adherence to traffic regulations by tanker operators, especially during the loading and transportation of fuel within the Lekki-Ajah axis. He assured that the government will enforce these rules to prevent traffic issues and maintain smooth vehicular movement.
The Lagos State Government reiterated its commitment to safeguarding the welfare of citizens and ensuring orderly traffic flow during this critical phase of industrial activity.
“All motorists, especially commercial bus and mini-bus drivers, are urged to comply with traffic laws. This includes avoiding picking up or dropping passengers at undesignated bus stops, refraining from driving against traffic (One-way drive), and observing all road signs and traffic signals. Adherence to these regulations will ensure a harmonious and efficient transportation system,” Giwa added.
