TOYIN ADEBAYO, ABUJA
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barr. Nyesom Wike, has celebrated two distinguished security officers for their outstanding contributions to improving security within the FCT.
The honourees, Assistant Inspector-General (AIG) of Police Benneth Igweh and Assistant Director-General (D-G) of the Department of State Services (DSS) Ado Muazu, were recognized for their unwavering commitment to keeping Abuja safe.
In a special dinner held in their honour in Abuja, Wike praised both officers for their relentless efforts in safeguarding lives and properties. Igweh, who served as the FCT Commissioner of Police before his recent promotion to AIG of Zone 7, was particularly commended for his dedication to combating criminality.
Muazu, the former State Director of DSS for the FCT, also received accolades for his quiet but effective leadership in intelligence and security operations.

Wike, acknowledging the officers’ hard work, emphasized the importance of recognising individuals while they are alive and actively contributing to society. “People who are committed and make sacrifices should be honoured while alive, not only when they pass. These two gentlemen have allowed us to sleep peacefully in the FCT, and for that, we must thank them,” Wike said.
The minister expressed his gratitude by announcing that the FCT Administration would gift both officers a Prado Jeep each to support them in their new roles. “Chief of staff, ensure that the AIG and the Assistant D-G receive their Prado Jeeps. They have done well for us, and we are grateful,” Wike stated.
In his response, Igweh, speaking on behalf of himself and Muazu, expressed heartfelt thanks to the minister and the FCT Administration for the honour.
He reassured Abuja residents that his promotion to AIG would further empower him to tackle criminal activities in the capital. “I am still here, and now with more authority, I will continue to ensure the safety of Abuja. If you’re involved in crime, it’s time to pack your bags because there is nowhere left to hide,” Igweh warned.
He also pledged, along with Muazu, to continue working closely with Wike and all security agencies to maintain peace and security across the FCT.
This recognition of service underscores the vital role security agencies play in ensuring the safety of residents, and it highlights the collaborative efforts that have contributed to making Abuja a safer city.
