The Coalition for Kaduna Political Groups (KPG) has raised alarms about the internal crisis within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), warning that the ongoing conflict could severely impact the party’s chances in the 2027 elections.

In a statement signed by the group’s leadership, including Convener Ibrahim Murtala Kachia, Co-Convener Solomon Jacob Maiyaki, Public Relations Officer Dr. Victor Bobai, and Secretary General Mrs. Daniel Blessing, KPG expressed concern over the deepening leadership struggles, lack of trust, and internal divisions within the PDP. The group questioned whether the party remains a credible opposition force.

KPG noted that recent political developments in Kaduna, especially in Southern Kaduna, reflect growing dissatisfaction with the PDP. The departure of key figures and their supporters from the party is seen as a significant signal that the party needs to reassess its strategies.

The statement emphasized that the PDP’s inability to present a united front, address its internal conflicts, or offer real benefits to its members has led to a noticeable decline in its popularity. In contrast, the All Progressives Congress (APC) appears more organized, with a stronger internal structure and a better capacity to tackle national challenges.

KPG warned that prominent figures in Southern Kaduna, including Senator Danjuma Laah, Engr. Andrew Yakubu, and Joseph Gumbari, along with their supporters, may soon reconsider their loyalty to the PDP. According to the group, this collective departure signals that the PDP, once a dominant political force, is struggling to maintain relevance and deliver results.

The group also pointed out that the PDP’s focus on party leadership without clear pathways to influencing key positions, such as the governorship, is eroding loyalty. “Voters are questioning their commitment to a party that no longer seems capable of addressing their concerns,” the statement said.

KPG concluded by warning that if the PDP cannot resolve its internal issues and present a unified front, it risks losing its ability to offer a compelling alternative to voters, leaving them skeptical about its future effectiveness.
