LAGOS – The executive members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Bukkuyum local government area of Zamfara State have taken the decision to dismiss the party chairman, Alhaji Sala Umar.

According to an official document addressed to the party’s main office in Gusau, the council’s leadership, in a meeting where two-thirds of members were present on September 23, 2024, expressed a lack of confidence in the party chairman.

The letter was signed by Nura Yusuf, Acting Secretary, Musa Muhammad, Legal Adviser, and Salisu Adamu, Ward Chairman.

The council leaders mentioned that they took this step because the chairman wasn’t following party rules, like not holding meetings, skipping State Exco meetings, making decisions alone, and causing disagreements among members.

They also highlighted the chairman’s incapacity to lead due to age and health issues.

They stated, “We acted as allowed by the party’s constitution in section 59 (1) and (2).”

Members chose Abubakar Maiwake, the council’s former Organising Secretary, as the Acting chairman.

The letter requested the State Working Committee of the party to review and approve the decision made for the party’s benefit.
