Manchester United are reportedly prepared to sack Erik ten Hag once the club finds a world-class replacement.

The Red Devils have endured a tricky start to the 2024-25 Premier League campaign, only managing wins against Fulham and Southampton during their first five contests.

Ten Hag’s troops got off to a below-par start in the Europa League on Thursday night when Eredivisie side FC Twente snatched a point at the Theatre of Dreams.

Collecting seven points from their opening five games of the top-flight schedule, Man United are languishing down in 11th place, six points behind league leaders Manchester City.

Man United is next in action on Sunday afternoon when Ange Postecoglou‘s Europa League-contending Tottenham Hotspur side will visit Old Trafford.

According to TEAMtalk, Man United are taking active steps as they look to enjoy a better future without Ten Hag in the managerial hot seat at Old Trafford.

The report claims that the Red Devils are actively seeking replacements for the Dutchman, who is yet to convince the club’s hierarchy that he is the man to lead the side back to its former glories.

It is understood that Man United wanted to part ways with Ten Hag in the summer, entering talks with the likes of Mauricio Pochettino and Thomas Tuchel.

However, it is said that the 20-time English champions were unable to lure either to the Theatre of Dreams, meaning that they were left with little choice but to extend the current boss’s contract.

Rather unusually, the Red Devils’ board was supposedly ‘concerned’ after Ten Hag guided United to an FA Cup win last season, as it made the sacking of the 54-year-old trickier.

Despite rejecting the advances of Man United in the summer, Tuchel and Pochettino are still possible arrivals at the club in the future.

It has also been reported that the Red Devils are keeping an eye on Eddie Howe‘s situation at Newcastle United, who could change managers soon.

Last campaign’s FA Cup success saved Ten Hag from the sack, although the former Ajax boss is anything but secure in his position currently.
