The Edo State Government has expressed concern over an alleged plot by the reinstated Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu, to unlawfully enter the State’s Government House on September 30th.

The Special Adviser to  Governor Godwin Obaseki on Media Projects, Crusoe Osagie, mentioned that Shaibu’s intention is to carry out his claimed reinstatement.

Osagie highlighted that Shaibu’s intended move persists despite a filed stay of execution appeal, contesting Justice J. K. Omotosho’s decision to reinstate the deputy governor in turmoil.

In a statement released on Saturday evening, Osagie called on the Inspector General of Police to stop Shaibu from carrying out this scheme.

According to Osagie: “We want to draw the attention of the Inspector General of Police to the intelligence we have gathered regarding a planned move by the erstwhile Deputy Governor, Comrade Philip Shaibu, to forcefully enter the Edo State Government House to purportedly enforce the ruling of Justice J. K. Omotosho.

“The stay of execution is still pending at the Court of Appeal, and we appeal to the Inspector General of Police to ensure that the state does not descend into anarchy because of the ambition of one man. The last time Shaibu attempted this, it led to the death of a police officer. We believe that is one death too many, and it is only wise for us to prevent a repeat of such.”

The clash between Shaibu and Obaseki resulted in the Edo State House of Assembly impeaching the troubled deputy governor.

After his impeachment, Obaseki appointed Marvelous Omobayo as his deputy governor.

However, the Abuja Federal High Court has reinstated Shaibu as Edo State’s deputy governor.
