Reuben Rume Yakubu Izeze, the Honourable Commissioner for Works, Urban / Highways, has once again demonstrated his unwavering commitment to uplifting the people of Ughelli South. His recent empowerment scheme, targeted at indigent women, students, and party faithfuls of Ughelli South, especially Ughievwen Kingdom, stands out as a testament to his dedication to improving lives and fostering sustainable development.
The empowerment scheme, Which was done on Saturday, September 21, 2024, at Hon. Izeze’s Oginibo residence, was a collaborative effort with his associates from the formidable “FOOSTODEY” group. The initiative provided much-needed financial assistance and resources to hundreds of beneficiaries within the Ughievwen Kingdom, directly aligning with the state’s MORE AGENDA of growth, inclusivity, and security, spearheaded by His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Elder Sheriff Francis Oborevwori.
At the core of this empowerment scheme lies a crucial element—economic support for women engaged in small-scale businesses. One hundred women, carefully selected from the 34 communities within Ughievwen Kingdom, each received N50,000 to inject into their businesses. Two hundred students from Ughievwen Kingdom, enrolled and studinng in various tertiary institutions across Nigeria, received N25,000 each as part of the bursary support for the 2024 academic session. These students, who maintain a minimum CGPA of 2.50, benefited from this initiative, ensuring that financial constraints do not hinder their academic progress.
