Three suspects are in custody at the Bompai Police Headquarters, Kano, for allegedly poisoning, stabbing, and burning a man to death over a plot of land.

The victim, 32-year-old Dahiru Musa, was lured by his close friend and accomplices before being brutally murdered.

The Kano State Police Command identified the suspects as Aliyu Adamu (22), Mubarak Abdulsalam (20), and Sadiq Sunusi (19).

According to police reports, Aliyu Adamu, a close associate of Dahiru, orchestrated the attack.

On September 29, 2024, a resident of Dorayi Quarters reported Dahiru’s disappearance, suspecting his last contact, Aliyu, to be involved. Acting on this information, the police arrested Aliyu the following day.

During interrogation, Aliyu confessed to conspiring with Mubarak Abdulsalam to lure Dahiru to his home under the pretence of discussing a land deal.

Once there, Dahiru was given poisoned food, and when he became unconscious, they fatally stabbed him. The suspects then disposed of his body in a nearby uncompleted building.

Aliyu admitted that the motive was to seize Dahiru’s land, as he was in possession of the property documents.

Mubarak, upon learning of Aliyu’s arrest, conspired with Sadiq Sunusi to burn Dahiru’s remains using petrol in an attempt to destroy evidence.

The body was recovered and taken to Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital for autopsy. All three suspects are currently in custody at the Command’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Homicide Section, and are undergoing further investigation.

Commissioner of Police, Salman Dogo Garba, confirmed that the suspects would be charged to court upon completion of the investigation.

He commended the residents for providing information that led to the arrests and urged the public to exercise caution, especially when conducting business meetings in secluded areas.
