    The Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yoruba land, Iba Gani Adams has urged stakeholders and the government to focus on revitalising cultural consciousness among the people.  He highlighted the significance of promoting indigenous cultures and traditions, asserting that such efforts can enhance national identity and unity.

    Adams stated this while speaking during the fashion exhibition for Olokun Festival, held at Oodua House in Ikeja, Lagos, on Thursday. He advocated community engagement and investment in cultural initiatives to cultivate a deeper appreciation for heritage, which can ultimately strengthen social cohesion and resilience.

    He urged collaborative efforts to ensure that cultural values are preserved and passed down to future generations. Chairman of the 2024 edition of Olokun Festival, Yinka Oguntimehin, who is also the Asoju Aareonakakanfo of Yoruba land said the fashion show is the third programme of the week-long annual fiesta.

    Oguntimehin stated that this year’s edition of Olokun Festival was loaded with various cultural and spiritual activities that will climax with the grand finale on Tuesday, October 22 at the Suntan Beach Badagry.

    Organiser of the fashion show, Ambassador Ibrahim Lawal, also known as Agbara Asa, expressed appreciation to the Aare Onakakanfo of Yorubaland, Adams for the opportunity given to him to organise the event. He said fashion plays significant part in the way the world is shaped

    “We are truly a reflection of the clothes we wear and the attire we don. So, the event is not an anathema,” he said.
