31-year-old kills aunt in Gombe

A 31-year-old man, Jonathan James, has allegedly stabbed his 65-year-old aunt, Ramatu Musa, to death with a knife.
The incident occurred in the early hours of 21 October 2024 in Bagadaza Quarters, Gombe State, according to the Gombe State Police Command.
The command’s spokesperson, ASP Buhari Abdullahi, explained that a patrol team from the Pantami Division, led by ASP Girema Yahaya, received a distress call at 2:15 a.m. and immediately responded to the scene.
“Unfortunately, the victim succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead on arrival at the Specialist Hospital in Gombe,” Abdullahi said in a statement on Friday.
“The suspect, Jonathan James, was arrested at the scene, and the knife used in the crime was recovered as evidence,” he added.
The police spokesperson reported that the victim had sustained chest injuries from the stabbing, which led to her death.
“The police are taking this case very seriously, and the suspect will soon face charges in court for prosecution,” ASP Abdullahi added.
While noting that the motive behind the fatal stabbing is still unclear, the command assured the public that justice will be served in the case.
“We condemn this heinous act and will ensure that the perpetrator faces the full weight of the law,” said ASP Abdullahi.
