Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has reiterated his administration’s unwavering commitment to ensuring the safety and security of residents, emphasising the use of technology and collaboration to address modern security challenges.
Speaking at the 18th Annual Security Town Hall Meeting themed “Data and Technology-Driven Security: The Way Forward,” held at Lagos House, Ikeja, the Governor handed over 260 new patrol vehicles, communication gadgets, and protective equipment to security agencies to enhance their operations.
Sanwo-Olu highlighted his administration’s vision to build a secure and technologically advanced Lagos, citing several initiatives under the Security and Governance pillar of the THEMES+ Developmental Agenda.
These include: deployment of 450 intelligent surveillance cameras across critical locations, integrated with the Lagos State Command and Control Centre, launch of a digital ID system with biometric technology to bolster security in high-risk areas, integration of drones for surveillance, traffic monitoring, and crowd management and establishment of a cybersecurity advisory board to safeguard citizens’ data and prevent breaches.

The Governor commended donors to the Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF) for their contributions and called on more individuals and organisations to support the fund, describing security as a long-term investment in societal prosperity.
Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, praised the state government for its consistent support, noting that Lagos has significantly reduced armed robberies and bank heists through such initiatives.
Chairman of the LSSTF Board of Trustees, Kehinde Durosinmi-Etti, and Executive Secretary, AbdulRazaq Balogun, also acknowledged the transformative role of technology in tackling security challenges, pledging accountability in managing donated resources.
This milestone underscores the Lagos State Government’s proactive approach to fostering safety and progress through strategic partnerships and innovative solutions.
