The Oyo State Government has initiated a major road rehabilitation project aimed at improving transportation infrastructure and boosting mobility within Ibadan, the state capital.

The rehabilitation work will focus on key roads, including Bashorun Oluwo-nla, Agbowo Road, Eleyele-Water Road, and Zion Plaza-Olusoji Road.

The projects are expected to be completed within 8 weeks, according to a statement released on Friday by Hon. Busoye Ogunlade, Chairman of the Oyo State Road Maintenance Agency (OYSROMA).

In his statement, Hon. Ogunlade emphasized that the rehabilitation projects were aligned with the Seyi Makinde-led administration’s commitment to improving the state’s infrastructure and making it more attractive to both local and foreign investors.

He explained that the ongoing rehabilitation works were based on the availability of funds and the economic viability of the selected roads.

“Governor Seyi Makinde has given us the mandate to rehabilitate roads across the state, and we have mobilized engineers through direct labor to these sites,” Ogunlade said.

Ogunlade further stated that the selection of the roads for rehabilitation was influenced by complaints raised during zonal town hall meetings with residents. The feedback from the public helped identify the critical roads in need of urgent repairs. Engineers from OYSROMA have already begun working on some of the roads, with plans to move to the remaining areas soon.

“This is borne out of the complaints we received during zonal town hall meetings from residents of the state. Our engineers have swung into action and have taken measurements of critical roads,” Ogunlade added.
