    ‘A Tragic Loss’: Sanwo-Olu comforts Niger over fatal tanker blast

    Lagos State Governor and Chairman of the South-West Governors Forum, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic loss of lives in the fuel tanker explosion that occurred on Saturday at Dikko Junction, along the Abuja-Kaduna highway in Gurara Local Government Area of Niger State.

    About 86 people were burnt to death when the tragic incident occurred.

    In a statement released on Sunday by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Gboyega Akosile, Governor Sanwo-Olu extended his condolences to Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umar Bago, the families of the victims, and the people of Niger State.

    Sanwo-Olu said, “It is with profound sadness that I received news of the devastating tanker explosion at Dikko Junction, which claimed numerous lives. This tragic incident is deeply worrisome.

    “My family, alongside the government and people of Lagos State, stands in solidarity with Governor Mohammed Bago, the government, and citizens of Niger State during this painful time.”

    He added, “Our prayers are with the families of the victims. May God grant the injured a swift recovery and provide the bereaved families the strength to endure this irreparable loss. We also pray for the repose of the souls of the deceased.”

    The tragic explosion has sparked widespread condolences, highlighting the urgent need for enhanced safety measures on Nigerian highways to prevent such devastating incidents.
