The African Action Congress (AAC) has condemned Governor Seyi Makinde’s action over the 500 meters setback at the ongoing Senator Rashidi Ladoja Circular Road.

The ACC, through a press statement issued by Mr Kayode Babayemi, Chairman of the party in Oyo State described b

Governor Makinde’s action on the 500 meters setback as wicked.

Mr Kayode Babayemi’s reaction through a copy of the statement made available to Daily Independent reads as follows:

” Makinde’s show of wickedness has displaced over 200,000 Oyo residents, scores died out of panic, hundreds are psychologically traumatized.

The ongoing mass demolition of houses and properties along the circular road across the city of Ibadan has rendered thousands of residents homeless while scores are dead and others in traumatic conditions, this mass demolition from the Makinde government is rather insensitive to the plight of the masses.

Makinde has rendered the residents of seven out of eleven local governments in Ibadan homeless where the circular roads are channeled.

The governor has just ordered another demolition as we speak, 500 meters for ordinary corridor of a circular road wherein the initial plan was 75 meters by left and 75 meters by right.

“Makinde took more than agreed by the past administration where the excess will be used for private estates.

Makinde’s first and second terms have brought a lot of calamity and disaster to different homes in the state, destroyed an DB privatized many state properties like Agodi Gardens, and the amusement park.

“A government that is concerned about rendering people homeless without any meaningful compensation or resettling them should not be considered as a government for the people.

Right from the resurgence of the circular road, the Makinde government has never made a public statement to address the situation. Rather, he seems to be more interested in grabbing more lands and destroying people’s properties.

“This is a signal to the good people of Oyo state that ruling PDP government in the state is nothing but a party against their existence.

“Despite several cries and engagements initiated by the affected residents, Governor Makinde has turned deaf hears to the people he claimed to have voted him to power; a big lesson to the people that Oyo PDP can not save the people but only the African Action Congress (AAC), the party that’s always fighting along with the people to get justice and liberation.

“Makinde should stop rendering the people of oyo state homeless when he has no good housing plan for the people”.
