Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, has expressed his condolences to the victims of the recent floods in Katsina State, urging for coordinated efforts to address the flood crisis.
The flooding, which occurred between August and early September, has led to the tragic loss of 15 lives, displaced 3,000 people, and left 21,481 others injured, according to the Katsina State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA). Over 32,000 houses were damaged across 32 local government areas, with Dutsinma, Daura, Kaita, Katsina, and Batagarawa being the hardest hit.

In his statement, Speaker Abbas expressed deep sorrow over the widespread destruction caused by the floods and stressed the importance of community cooperation and adherence to safety warnings issued by relevant authorities to prevent further losses.
He also extended his sympathies to flood victims in other parts of the country, showing solidarity with those affected by natural disasters. Furthermore, the Speaker called on the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to ramp up its relief efforts, ensuring that those impacted receive the necessary support.
