The national chairman of the Accord Party, Prof. Chris Imumolen has identified flood disaster victims in Borno State.

Through his NGO, PCI Foundation, the Accord Party leader distributed food items to approximately 3,000 individuals impacted by the flooding in Maiduguri, the state capital.

The recent floods in Borno submerged numerous homes, displacing tens of thousands of residents and leading to zoo animals escaping onto the streets.

Authorities reported that the Maiduguri flash flood has claimed the lives of around 30 people, affecting over a million individuals. The UN estimates the total number of displaced persons at 414,000.

The situation was reportedly triggered by the Alau Dam collapsing on the Ngadda River in the State last week.

Addressing the relief items distribution in Maiduguri, Mr. Samshudeen Adamu, the National Coordinator of PCI Foundation, mentioned that the act stems from Prof. Chris Imumolen’s goodwill to show solidarity with the people of Borno during these challenging times.

While conveying Prof. Imumolen’s condolences to those who lost their livelihoods due to the disaster, he urged government agencies to facilitate the safe evacuation of victims and implement preventive actions to curb the spread of water-related illnesses.

During his speech, Hon. Abdullahi Ntakai, a former Deputy Director of Town Planning at the Ministry of Land and Survey, expressed gratitude to PCI Foundation for its compassion, which he believes will foster unity among Nigeria’s diverse ethnic groups.
