The executive governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde, has facilitated the appointment of the Oyo State Accord party chairman, Prince Kolade Ojo, as the Secretary to the Saki West Local Government area of Oyo State.
In the same vein, Prince Ojo was also appointed as the Sole Head Administrator, Asabari Local Council Development Area of Oyo State.
Similarly, other former members of the party have also been appointed to key positions across different local government areas in the state.
The appointments have generated a lot of buzz in the political scene in the state with many commending the move and describing it as a strategic way of recognizing and rewarding those who supported his re-election bid in the 2023 general election.
Recall that before the 2023 general election, notable chieftains of the Accord party like Hon Adebukola Ajaja, Prince Kolade Felix, and Hon Shina Peller, led a coalition of party members to join forces with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in support of Governor Makinde.’s re-election bid.
Their decision was based on the governor’s impressive performance in his first term and the desire for the continuity of development initiatives in Oyo State.

In response to the appointments, Prince Ojo expressed his gratitude to Governor Makinde for fulfilling his promise of running an inclusive government that embraces members of different political parties. He commended the governor for his leadership style, which values and rewards loyalty and dedication.
Additionally, he acknowledged Hon Peller for his noteworthy roles in facilitating the coalition and inclusiveness of many Accord party members in Governor Makinde’s government.
Hon Peller, who led his supporters and Accord party members in Oyo North Senatorial District to formally join the PDP on February 29, 2024, emphasized his commitment to promoting the welfare of the people of Oyo State through his support for Governor Makinde.
Peller said his move was thrilled by the vision and good performance of the Governor Seyi Makinde-led government, while he described the governor as a visionary leader, beacon of hope and progress for the state, vowing to work tirelessly to ensure the continuity of positive change and development under his leadership.
According to Peller, “The appointment of former Accord party chieftains in Governor Makinde’s government signifies a strategic move to foster unity, inclusiveness, and collaboration among different political stakeholders in Oyo State.
“By recognizing the contributions of various party members and rewarding their loyalty, the governor has demonstrated his commitment to good governance and partnership in driving sustainable development initiatives for the benefit of the people.
“My leader, Governor Makinde, has made the PDP a beautiful bride to behold for the people of Oyo State, and I’m again pledging my unalloyed support for the continuity of dividends of democracy in Oyo State through him.”
