Adamu Garba, a businessman and chieftain of ruling All Progressives Congress, APC has expressed his excitement over the dumping of opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, by his father who has now joined him in his party.
Garba, a former presidential aspirant on the platform of APC said his father who has been a member of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP for 23 years was received by APC executives of Yola-North Local Government of Adamawa State on Saturday.
He listed those who received the elder Adamu Garba to include the Adamawa state ALGON chairman, Candidate for the office of Adamawa state house of assembly for the APC, Alh. Sulaiman Alkali, my central coordinator, Abubakar Jada, among others.
Adamu said the entry of his father into the APC will boost the chances of the party in the state his Jambutu ward produces the highest amount of votes in the local government area.
The businessman, who has been campaigning for Bola Tinubu said his father was attracted into the APC by the presidential candidate as well as the party’s governorship candidate for Adamawa, Aisha Binani.
His statement as posted on his Facebook page reads: “Today, I am the happiest son on earth. My father, an Imam, Qur’anic schoolar, a conservative, who is my name sake Alhaji Garba Adamu, who have been a traditional supporter of PDP since 1999 decided to follow me into APC, after 23 years. Remember, Adamawa is a PDP state, but to my father, his son first, Asiwaju First, Shettima first and Binani first and above all, Nigeria first and foremost.
“I’m very grateful to Allah and to him for bringing all his blessings into my political struggle.
“He was received by APC executives of Yola-North Local Government, including the Adamawa state ALGON chairman, Candidate for the office of Adamawa state house of assembly for the APC, Alh. Sulaiman Alkali, my central coordinator, Abubakar Jada, among others.
“It is worthy of note that Jambutu ward produces the highest amount of votes in our local government and as a delegate and veteran, my father is the core member holding that ward. The successes of that ward will now officially transferred to APC in the coming 2023 election, we’ll make sure of that insha Allahu,” he said.
Garba had defected to the Young Progressives Party on July 12, 2022 after he dumped the APC in protest over the N100 million price for the presidential forms of the party.
Garba, dumped the bid to obtain the presidential form despite N83 million.
He accused the leadership of APC of promoting anti-democratic policies that seek to exclude youths and people with progressive ideology from inclusive politics.
He however returned to APC after the emergence of Bola Tinubu and Kashim Shetimma as the presidential and vice presidential candidate of the party respectively.
He said he has to return to APC to support the combination of a ‘great strategist and a great tactician’ running on a single ticket.
His tweet read, “Yes, I am fully back to APC. I could do more harm to my country Nigeria if I did not support a combination of a great strategist and a great tactician on a single ticket.”
“It is BAT/Hashim that should take over all polling units in Nigeria come 2023. It’s not altogether about not having a competent Christian in the north, there are, many of them indeed.”
“But how many of those competent ones are able to build any political capital beyond their immediate environment? Name? Politics is very practical, it’s not about whims.”
