Chelsea delivered a footballing masterclass as they obliterated Morecambe 5-0 in a one-sided FA Cup showdown on Saturday.

Tosin Adarabioyo and Joao Felix stole the spotlight with sensational braces, while Christopher Nkunku added his name to the scoresheet, ensuring an emphatic victory at Stamford Bridge.

The tone was set early when Chelsea’s relentless attack pinned Morecambe deep into their own half.

The breakthrough came in the 39th minute when Adarabioyo unleashed a deflected strike from the edge of the box, leaving goalkeeper Harry Burgoyne rooted to the spot. Despite their best efforts, Morecambe’s defence could not withstand the onslaught.

Nkunku doubled Chelsea’s lead shortly after the break, pouncing on a rebound to fire a low shot into the bottom corner.

As Morecambe faltered, Adarabioyo struck again in the 70th minute, unleashing a thunderous long-range effort that sailed into the net, showcasing his technical brilliance.

Felix then added the finishing touches to Chelsea’s dominant display. In the 75th minute, he controlled a precise pass before calmly slotting the ball into the bottom left corner.

Just two minutes later, Felix sealed the rout with a screamer from the edge of the box, nestling the ball in the top corner as the crowd erupted in cheers.

Morecambe’s rare attacking attempts were stifled by a disciplined Chelsea defence, with goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen making crucial saves when called upon. Burgoyne, though valiant in goal, could do little to prevent Chelsea’s relentless barrage of shots.

Manager Enzo Maresca expressed delight at his team’s commanding performance, praising their fluid passing and clinical finishing. “It was a complete team effort. The players executed the plan perfectly,” he said post-match.

With this dominant victory, Chelsea advances to the next round, sending a clear message to their rivals: they are a force to be reckoned with in this year’s FA Cup campaign.
