Rwanda and Nigeria played out a goalless draw in their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying matchday two encounter in Kigali on Tuesday.

The Nigerian team which beat Benin Republic 3-0 on Saturday, was left frustrated by both their profligacy and the brilliance of the Rwandan goalie.

The Amavubi dominated the opening minutes with the support of their fans.

The Super Eagles however took control of the game with the lively Ademola Lookman causing problems for the hosts’ defence.

Lookman was put through on goal in the 20th minute by Wilfred Ndidi but his shot was saved by Ntwari Fiacre.

The Atalanta winger put the ball inside the net three minutes later but the goal was controversially chalked off by the centre referee.

Victor Boniface hit the woodwork nine minutes before the break after he was set up by Lookman.

At the start of second half, Super Eagles caretaker coach, Augustine Eguavoen made two changes.

Victor Osimhen and Moses Simon took the place of Victor Boniface and Samuel Chukwueze.

The Super Eagles created a number of chances in the second half but Ntwari thwarted their efforts.

As a result, the Eagles picked four points in their opening two games in the qualifying round.

Nigeria will host the Mediterranean Knights of Libya in their next game in the qualifiers next month.
