The Ondo State Security Network Agency also referred to as Amotekun Corps, showcased 21 individuals suspected of engaging in criminal activities within the state.

During the parade of the suspects at the command headquarters in Akure on Tuesday, the state commander of the corps, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, mentioned that the arrests took place at various locations across the state.

He highlighted that two of the suspects, Umaru Mohammed and Ahmadu Illiyan, were involved in the kidnapping. They were apprehended while receiving a ransom for previously abducted victims. Currently, they are cooperating with the corps by providing valuable information that could aid in apprehending their associates.

He said, “Today, we are parading 21 suspected criminals who were picked up in various local government areas of the state. Among those paraded today were suspected kidnappers who, around the places where a ransom was paid, were picked up and are already giving us useful information.

“We also have those who specialised in kidnapping and stealing of okada from innocent okada riders. They will ride behind them, hit them with heavy weapons, and steal and dismember their bike. We were able to apprehend the mastermind who came from Benin (Edo State)  for the operation and a serious manhunt is going on for his accomplices.

“We have Olanusi Adurayemi and Kabiru Mustapha, who are armed robbery suspects; then, Umaru Mohammed and Ahmadu Illiyan, suspected kidnappers. So, the 21 suspects are profiled and ready to proceed to court after investigations.”

The Amotekun boss cautioned the state residents against purchasing cheap and fairly used hand equipment, emphasizing that doing so could result in their arrest along with the thieves.

He also urged the people to continue supplying the corps with reliable information that could help in apprehending the criminals.
