Anglican Bishop to Nigerians: Pray more for govt, leaders than cursing

The Anglican Bishop of Awori Diocese, Rt. Rev. Akin Atere, has urged Nigerians to love and pray more for the government and leaders rather than cursing them.
Atere made the assertion on Sunday during the 19th Jesus Festival Harvest Thanksgiving of the Ibadan Anglican Diocese Church.
The programme which had the theme “I am Going Higher”, was held at the Cathedral of St. James, The Great, Oke-Bola, Ibadan.
Atere urged Nigerians and churches to maintain unity, always forgive one another and be more patient and tolerant.
“There is nothing happening in Nigeria today that has never happened before, the time calls for us to improve more in prayers and not to curse or be weary.
“We are in a battle field in such a time and must pray fervently in order not to fall,” he said.

The cleric urged the faithful to improve on their characters, integrity, self control and live a Christ-like life.
Atere advised the faithful to develop a deeper trust in God and grow their faith in Him in spite of all odds.
“Learn more to love whole heartedly, extend the love to others because your identity as a Christian is love; when you love more you will be blessed more.
“Identify and develop your spiritual gifts, serve God more effectively, you must also go higher in evangelism and make soul winning your priority,” Atere said.
The Bishop of Ibadan Anglican Diocese, Most Rev. Joseph Akinfenwa prayed for peace, progress and testimonies for the church and Nigeria at large.
Akinfenwa appreciated God for the success of the 2024 Jesus Festival and the entire congregation for the support and contributions toward the success of the programme.
