ABUJA – About 119,000 members of the Action Democratic Party (ADP) and its governorship candidate, Erelu Kemi Halle have defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) across the country.
They were received by the APC National Chairman, Dr. Abdulahi Ganduje at the party Secretariat on Thursday in Abuja.
Ganduje, has, however, assured the defectors that they would be incorporated into the party across the country.
Addressing newsmen, Halle explained the benefits of the harsh policies of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led administration.
She said that even though the policies appear to be harsh at the moment, the country would reap the benefits of the policies in no time.
She said: “If you look at all the policies of the government, it takes time. You cannot be pregnant in a day and give birth on the same day. And instead of the baby to start crawling on the same day, to start walking the same day, to start feeling the same thing, it is going to be a phase of metamorphosis.”
She noted that though she condemned the removal of fuel subsidy at first, but she was later schooled by her husband that these are critical decisions that have to be taken for the country to be able to move forward.

Explaining why they decided to join the APC, the ADP governorship candidate said that they decided to join the ruling party because they want to be a progressive partner, adding, “we were more than 120,000 that defected from ADP to APC across the country.”
Meanwhile, the APC Stakeholders Forum in the North-East has passed a vote of confidence on President Tinubu’s administration, adding that the decision to pass a vote of confidence stemmed from his laudable efforts aimed at taking Nigeria to greater level.
Addressing newsmen at a press conference on Thursday in Abuja, the Chairman of the Forum, Haruna Sardauna commended Tinubu for establishing the South East and North West development commission.
He also commended the President for the introduction of the Nigeria Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) and the Students Loan program, saying it has made education more accessible.
Sardauna further commended the administration for the Renewed Hope Agenda of returning 10 million out-of-school Children and reforming the Almajiri education system and empowering 5,000 members of the NYSC with 10 million each to fund their entrepreneurial ventures after they complete the NYSC Scheme.
He expressed optimism that there would be a better Nigeria, while urging the citizens to persevere and support the Tinubu administration to succeed
He said: “The Northeast APC Stakeholders Forum is passing a vote of confidence in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration. We will continue to advocate to Nigerians on his laudable efforts aimed at taking Nigeria to greater Insha Allah.”
