Leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Plateau State are gearing up for the upcoming local government elections on October 9, expressing confidence in their ability to secure victory.

At the official campaign launch held at Dengi Mini-Stadium in Kanam Local Government Area, APC leaders highlighted the momentum gained through defections from the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and other parties.

Hon. Rufus Bature, APC State Chairman, stated that the influx of new members has significantly boosted the party’s chances in the forthcoming local government polls across the state. “The number of decampees from PDP and other parties in Kanam has strengthened our position for the council elections,” Bature said.

Senator Simon Bako Lalong, leader of the APC in Plateau State, urged eligible voters to come out in large numbers on October 9 to support the party. Represented by the 2023 APC governorship candidate, Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda, Lalong called on party supporters to remain peaceful and loyal throughout the election process.

Hon. Yusuf Gagdi, a member of the House of Representatives for Pankshin, Kanam, and Kanke federal constituency, declared that the people of Plateau are fully mobilized for the election, leaving no room for the PDP to claim any seats, not even a councillorship position.

Gagdi confidently stated that the APC’s infrastructural developments in Kanam surpass those of the PDP, making it impossible for the ruling party to win in the area. “We call on the Plateau State Independent Electoral Commission (PLASIEC) to ensure a free and fair election,” he added.

He warned that any attempt to rig the election by the PDP would be met with resistance, emphasizing that Plateau is an APC stronghold. “APC and the people of Plateau are prepared to defend the integrity of this election and resist any form of manipulation,” Gagdi concluded.
