Troops from the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) have successfully rescued Gambo Genevieve, a senior Cameroonian government official, and five other individuals who had been abducted in the Lake Chad region.

Genevieve, who serves as the Head of Service at the Department of Physical Education in Logone and Chari, Cameroon, was freed along with the other hostages after MNJTF troops responded to an emergency call from residents in the villages of Gangawa and Kangaleri, located in the Gogolom area of Mora Division.

During the operation, the MNJTF troops clashed with the terrorists, who fled the scene, leaving their captives behind. The rescued individuals are now receiving medical assessments to ensure their health and safety.

In a separate operation, MNJTF forces in Sector 3, Mongunu, apprehended a key Boko Haram logistics supplier named Babagana Zaninu in Gubio. Zaninu was caught with a Toyota pickup truck filled with food items, illicit drugs, and other supplies meant for Boko Haram militants. The confiscated items included soft drinks, sugar, and flour, intended to support the terrorists.

Zaninu admitted during questioning that he had purchased the supplies from Gubio market and planned to deliver them to Gazabure Village, a known Boko Haram stronghold.
