Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has praised the upcoming local government elections in Rivers State as a crucial moment for Nigeria’s democracy.
In a statement shared on his social media, Atiku described the elections, scheduled for tomorrow, as a “beacon of hope” that strengthens the core of constitutional democracy.
He emphasised the importance of the polls in upholding the Supreme Court’s ruling on local government autonomy, describing them as a significant step toward reaffirming the principles that uphold Nigeria’s republic.
“This election resounds as a powerful affirmation of constitutionalism and the rule of law, a cause that should rally the support of all true champions of democracy,” Atiku stated.
