The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, has promised to revive businesses, create jobs, and restructure the South-East.

Atiku also said he would set aside $10billion to empower young men and women in businesses.

The PDP presidential candidate made these promises during the Imo State presidential campaign in Owerri the state capital on Saturday.

Atiku said, “I know that you are businessmen, I know that you are traders and so forth. I want to assure you that If I have the opportunity and you vote me business trading will pickup again, because in my policy document I said I am going to set aside $10 billion just to empower women and young men in business.

“I know the entire South-East is yearning for the restructuring of the country and it is one of the five items of powers you want and the resources you want, we will work with the national assembly to make sure powers are devolved to the federating units

“There will be absolutely no need for any young man or woman not to have something to do, we will provide jobs, if you don’t want jobs we will provide businesses for you, we will provide an environment where business is on the agenda, we will sit down with every part of this country whatever devolution will thrive.

The former vice-president further stated that the PDP had done so much in its years in power that led to growth and development, adding that the people had no reason to vote the APC again.

“The PDP witnessed the greatest growth during its years. We shall repeat it and even surpass what we did when we were in government. I assure you that and that I swear to God that we are capable of doing it again. The people of Imo you and the southeast you have absolutely no reason to vote any other party other than PDP.”

Earlier the National Chairman of the PDP, Dr. Iyorchia Ayu, urged the people of Imo State not to allow division in the party, calling on all to work together to produce victory and work to produce the president come February 2023.

He noted “You need to win with unity, your party has to be united. I want to make it clear to everybody, we will not accept division in our party. Everybody must work together to produce victory. I want you to work together and produce the president on February 25, 2023, everybody should come out as one PDP family and vote for Atiku Abubakar as president, vote all PDP candidates for National Assembly. Once we have won the presidency take it that Imo is back in the hands of PDP and we will take governance from there.”

He added, “I don’t want you to be divided. The issue of insecurity which is the big problem in Imo will be a thing of the past, because you voting for the president who understands the country who had controlled security services as vice-president. We are going to support everyone of you particularly young men and women. Where there is cooperation there is no fighting.

“The good news is this. Imo State is a PDP state. Last time we won and in February 2023 we will still win, because Igbo people are wise. Even those who have gone elsewhere were all PDP, like Rochas Okorocha, so without PDP you can’t win Imo State.”
