Spotify has released its annual list of predicted Songs of Summer for 2024, highlighting the top 30 tracks that could dominate the summer. This year, the list proudly includes three of Nigeria’s most talented artists: Ayra Starr, Burna Boy, and Tems.
Ayra Starr: A rising star

Ayra Starr has been on her rise to stardom, especially with her latest album, The Year I Turned 21. Her hit song “Santa”, a collaboration with Rvssian and Rauw Alejandro, has landed her a coveted spot on the list.
Furthermore, Ayra Starr now has 31.1 million monthly listeners on Spotify, an incredible feat by a Nigerian artist. Adding to her long list of achievements is her 2024 Grammy nomination for Best African Music Performance for her hit single Rush.
Burna Boy: The afrofusion sensation

Burna Boy has become a leading figure in the Nigerian music scene. He has created a name for himself and continues to maintain his icon status globally with his music. His latest release, a remix of Tshwala Bam, featuring S.N.E and Yuppe, is a top contender for Spotify’s Songs of Summer 2024.
Upon its release, the song climbed the charts and reached No. 1 on the Nigerian Apple Music Chart, staying there for days. Currently, the song has over twelve million listens on Spotify, a great achievement for a track that is only a month old.

Tems: The voice of alté

Tems, celebrated for her distinct blend of alté, soul, and pop, has earned a place on the list with her catchy track Love Me JeJe. This accolade adds to her growing international recognition, following hits like Mr Rebel and her feature on Wizkid’s Essence. Love Me JeJe premiered in April 2024 during Tems’ performance at Coachella. The song is a reimagined version of the original single Love Me JeJe by Seyi Somodu which was released in 1999.
