Niger State Governor, Rt. Hon. Mohammed Umaru Bago has expressed sadness over the demise of the member representing Munya Constituency in the state house of assembly, Hon. Joseph Haruna Duza, saying that the death of the lawmaker came when his service to his Constituency was highly needed.
The late Hon. Haruna Duza who is Chairman, House standing Committee on Security and Intelligence died on Friday at a private hospital after a brief illness.
The governor in a condolence message by his Chief Press Secretary, Bologi Ibrahim, described the passing away of the Lawmaker as shocking and a huge loss not only to the people of his Munya Constituency, but the entire State.
While acknowledging the contributions and active role of the late Lawmaker in the fight against insecurity in his Constituency and the State in general, the governor maintained that his passion for the growth and development of his Constituency is highly commendable.
According to him, “only God can fill the vacuum created by the demise of Duza”.
Also in his condolence massage, the Senator representing Niger East Senatorial district Alhaji Mohammed Sani Musa described the death of the lawmaker who is from the same constituency with him as a terrible loss.
Senator Sani Musa in a statement he personally signed on Saturday, a copy which was made available to newsmen in Minna said “with deep sadness that I, Mohammed Sani Musa, CON, Senator representing the Niger East Senatorial District, extend my heartfelt condolences on the passing of Hon. Joseph Duza, a respected member of the Niger State House of Assembly”. He pointed out that the late Duza’s tireless service to the people of Munya constituency, particularly his role as Chairman of the House Committee on Security and Intelligence, will be remembered with great respect and admiration.
Thought s member of the main opposition party People Democratic party (PDP) in the state, senator Sani said the late lawmaker has carried members of his Constituency along regardless of party affiliation, saying that “he was a true leader with the love of his people at heart”
“His passing away is a profound loss not only to his family and loved ones, but to the entire Niger State. His dedication to his duties and his commitment to the progress of our state were truly remarkable.
“May Almighty God grant his soul eternal rest and give comfort to his family, colleagues, and the people of Munya constituency during this difficult time. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all”, Sani Musa added.
He therefore commiserates with the Speaker, Niger State House of Assembly, Barrister AbdulMalik Sarkin Daji, other members of the 10th State Assembly, immediate and extended family of the deceased as well as the people of Munya local government area, urging them to accept the death of member as the act of God.
