President Joe Biden declared on Thursday that the United States would keep pressuring for the cease-fire that he had proposed for the fighting that has claimed over 37,000 lives in the Gaza Strip.
According to Biden, his strategy has the support of Israel, the G7, and the UN Security Council.

“And the biggest hang-up so far is Hamas refusing to sign on, even though they have submitted something similar.
Whether it comes to fruition remains to be seen. We’re going to continue to push,” the US president said at a news conference with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at the G7 summit in Italy.
Biden was asked earlier if the leaders at the summit discussed the cease-fire deal. He responded, “Yes.”

Asked if he is confident a deal will be completed, he said, “No,” and added, “I haven’t lost hope.”
“Hamas has to move,” said Biden.
Biden reported on May 31 that Israel had offered a three-pronged agreement to put a halt to hostilities in Gaza and guarantee the release of hostages detained in the coastal enclave. The plan calls for rebuilding Gaza, a hostage-prisoner exchange, and a cease-fire.
In spite of a UN Security Council resolution calling for an immediate cease-fire, Israel has come under worldwide criticism for its ongoing, ruthless bombardment on Gaza following a Hamas attack on October 7.
Based on information from local health authorities, since then, there have been over 37,200 Palestinian deaths in Gaza (mostly women and children) and over 84,800 injuries.
Large areas of Gaza were in ruins eight months into the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, and there was a terrible shortage of food, potable water, and medical supplies.
The International Court of Justice has accused Israel of genocide and ordered it to immediately cease operations in the southern city of Rafah, where more than a million Palestinians had sought safety from the fighting before it was attacked on May 6.
