Elder statesman, businessman and philanthropist, Aminu Dantata told the All Progressives Congress Vice Presidential Candidate, Sen. Kashim Shettima on Tuesday that he is waiting and ready to depart the world.

Dantata spoke at his Kano residence when Shettima paid him a courtesy visit to seek his blessings and advice ahead of the 2023 presidential election.

Shettima was accompanied by Gov. Abdullahi Ganduje, members of state and national assembly and other APC stalwarts on the visit.

But the 91-year- old businessman shocked his guests when he told them that he is ready to depart the world as he was no longer enjoying himself.

Dantata said most of the friends he made while travelling around Nigeria as a young man have already departed the world.

The businessman, who is the uncle of Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, also asked for forgiveness from those that he may have offended.

“I have travelled to all the states in Nigeria and I have done things with people across all states, many were friends but sadly, of all the people I know, I hardly can call out 10 that are still alive.

“Honestly, as I am right now, I am just waiting for my time. I no longer enjoy life anymore. I hope I depart this world in good faith.

“I hope I did not offend anyone in life. If I offended anyone, I hope they find it in their hearts to forgive me. If anybody has offended me, I have forgiven them.

“I am now the only one left in my family living with grandchildren,” he said.

Aside Dantata, Shetimma also visited elder statesmen including Gwadabe (Fmr Minister of Labour, Employment and Productivity), Gen Lawan Jafaru Isah (Military Governor, Kaduna State), Alhaji Tanko Yakassi in their residences.
