Twelve corpses believed to be those of bandits were found, which caused fear in the Tokulo hamlet of the Bwari Area Council in the Federal Capital Territory.

The bodies were still there Tuesday morning, according to Jerry Alkali, the area council member for the Igu Ward, who spoke to City & Crime.

According to Alkali, locals contacted him Monday between two and three in the morning to express their fear at the frequent gunshot noises in the neighborhood.

He said, “No one could afford to sleep at the time due to the tension caused by the development. It was later in the morning when some of them were heading to their farms that they sighted corpses lying on the ground outside the village along a road that leads to the Pmape community in Kagarko LGA of Kaduna State.

Another resident, who wished to remain anonymous, added that none of the victims were locals, suggesting that the security personnel had either engaged the deceased or brought them in and shot them dead.

In the past, the bandits have killed both residents and security personnel in a string of raids on Tokulo, the hometown of the current chairman of the Bwari Area Council.

Recall that in September, five bodies thought to be those of bandits were discovered in the Kawu settlement, which is where a similar tragedy occurred.

An FCT Special Anti-kidnapping Unit official verified the most recent instance, although he would not elaborate on how it occurred. It was not possible to get in touch with Josephine Adeh, the spokesperson for the FCT Police Command, on the incident.
