Ten young men and women have been introduced to the movie industry through the unveiling of a film Lab sponsored by the British Council.
The training involved experienced professionals in the movie industry such as Sunkanmi Adebayo, Tolu Ajayi, and Don Omope, among others.
Brenda Fasuba, the Head of Arts, Nigeria/Regional Head, British Council Executive Producer, who revealed the young producers, highlighted the challenging process of shortlisting and welcoming entries from individuals across the country as part of the Film Lab initiated by the British Council last year.
Mr. Sunkanmi Adebayo emphasized that the young producers received exposure to industry best practices in filmmaking and were guided through the ‘Journey of the film’.

During a recent roundtable discussion themed ‘Reframe Your Future: Meeting The Gap,’ various panelists delved into the intricacies of film production and accessing funds to impact the film production value chain.
Mr Tolu Ajayi emphasized the importance of acquiring the necessary knowledge, and skills and refining the final product. Brenda Fasugba from Film Lab and Peju Ibekwe also highlighted the significance of collaboration during the discussion.
The event, held at Legend Hotel, Airport Road, Ikeja, featured the screening of ten short films created during the training program curated by the British Council’s Film Lab. These films include ‘Blood And Rope’, ‘Adunni’ director by Sola Roberts; Ralia’s Secrets, FEMI which stars Stephanie Coker-Aderinokun and was directed by Tolu Ajayi; ‘She Sees’ by Akah Nani; ‘Toll-Free’ which is a movie on domestic abuse by Temi Ami-Williams; Ekun Iyawo by Moses Ipadeola: IRETI which tells the story of how a woman fought cancer and won. Toll Free which had veterans Nobert and Gloria Young.
Brenda Fasugba, the Executive Producer of all ten shorts, praised and motivated the young producers to exhibit and embody the teachings they received, as their entry into the movie industry would bring about significant changes.
