CAF Awards: Sanwo-Olu celebrates Lookman, Nnadozie, Super Falcons

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has commended Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman and Super Falcons goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie for their remarkable achievements at the 2024 CAF Awards.
Lookman clinched the coveted Men’s African Footballer of the Year title, while Nnadozie was honoured as the Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year.
Also, the Super Falcons secured the Women’s National Team of the Year award, cementing Nigeria’s dominance in African football.
The accolades were announced at the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Awards ceremony held on Monday night at the Palais des Congrès in Marrakech, Morocco.
In a statement released on Tuesday by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Gboyega Akosile, Governor Sanwo-Olu described the awardees as worthy ambassadors of Nigeria, whose talent and dedication have brought immense pride to the nation.

“As a Nigerian and a football fan, I am delighted to celebrate the remarkable achievements of our superstars, Ademola Lookman and Chiamaka Nnadozie, at the 2024 CAF Awards. They made us proud by winning the CAF Men’s African Footballer of the Year and Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year awards, respectively,” Sanwo-Olu said.
He also lauded the Super Falcons, calling their recognition as Women’s National Team of the Year a well-deserved honor. “The team has consistently proven to be the best female national team in Africa,” he added.
Sanwo-Olu noted the significance of these achievements, noting that they exemplify the hard work, commitment, and skill of Nigerian footballers. He expressed hope that their success would inspire the next generation of athletes to pursue their dreams with determination.
“These accomplishments reflect the vast potential of Nigerian football. On behalf of the government and the people of Lagos State, I congratulate our superstars for their outstanding performances. Their recognition by Africa’s highest football authority is not only a personal victory but also a testament to the strength of Nigerian football,” the governor stated.
