The Conference of Nigeria Political Parties (CNPP) has called on the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, to extend the payment deadline for Certificates of Occupancy (Cs of O) for owners of the 762 revoked plots of land in Maitama, Abuja.
In a statement signed by its Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Comrade James Ezema, the CNPP described the current two-week grace period, which expires today, January 3, 2025, as insufficient given the prevailing economic hardships in Nigeria.
“We urge the Minister and the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) to temper justice with mercy by granting an extension in the spirit of the yuletide and in recognition of the economic challenges facing the country,” the statement read.

The CNPP argued that an extended deadline would afford affected allottees the opportunity to comply with the directive, avoiding undue hardship or financial losses.
“We appeal for an extension to ensure that the individuals and groups involved have ample time to meet the requirements and prevent a situation where they are left to bear the consequences of non-compliance,” the statement added.
This appeal follows the CNPP’s recent expressions of concern over the worsening hunger and economic difficulties confronting millions of Nigerians, further highlighting the urgent need for compassionate governance during these challenging times.
