…Petitions security agencies
From Romanus Ugwu, Abuja
A pressure group under the auspices of Coalition of Christian Politicians in Nigeria (CCPN), has urged the general public to disregard allegations of anti-party activities and sponsorship of terrorism leveled against lawmaker representing Kaura Namoda/Birnin Magaji in the House of Representatives, Aminu Sani Jaji.
The coalition who addressed press conference in Abuja on Tuesday, explained that Jaji became target of retrogressive politicians because of his determination and strong opposition against under-developments and insecurity in Zamfara State.
There have been allegations of terrorism financing and anti-party activities against Jaji, leading to moves by some politicians to suspend him and recall him from the Green Chambers.
CCPN National Coordinator, Gabriel Ibrahim Itodo, revealed that the group has petitioned relevant security agencies to investigate and sanctioned those behind the speculations accordingly.
warned that the organisation will not tolerate blackmail of any kind from any quarter against the lawmaker, adding that “Jaji is too decent a man by all standards to be involved in any of these awkward allegations.
Itodo maintained that findings revealed that the allegations are the handiwork of enemies from both within and outside the All Progressives Congress (APC).
“It is all about Jaji’s impressive and intimidating profile. It is also about 2027 governorship election in the state. We are using this medium to appeal to politicians in Zamfara State to play politics with decency and decorum.
“To us and a good number of Nigerians, we did not believe these lies from strange fellows who don’t wish the state and Jaji, well. It is the evil imagination of his political detractors that are afraid of him. This, to many of us, is an idle talk that holds no truth, and the source must be investigated and sanctioned accordingly. After this briefing, we shall be sending a petition to all relevant security agencies for proper investigations.
“For a man who once served in the 8th National Assembly as Chairman, National Security and Intelligence to be accused of terrorism is not only childish but also dangerous. We are aware that he is currently so preoccupied with delivering on his mandate to his constituents and does not have that luxury of time to waste on detractors.
“He is a man whose philosophy in leadership is all encompassing, his love for one Nigeria is driven by passion to have a Nigeria of our dream where ethnicity, religion, and sectionalism have no place, a Nigeria that works for all. A man whose workers cut across all tribes including: Ebira, Igbo, Hausa and Yoruba, the man who sponsored the Christians to support the Muslim/ Muslim ticket, in fact the only Christian group that openly endorsed Muslim ticket during the 2023 presidential election of Tinubu/Shettima Joint Ticket.
“How can a man of this character and a detribalized Nigerian be tagged terrorism financier because of his political capacity and competence, all we see playing out is fear of the unknown, his sagacity is the reason for this calculated attempt to smear his good name, but unfortunately, they cannot succeed.
“All these allegations are baseless and unfounded, and the public should disregard the fabricated news and focus on the future development of Zamfara State,” the coalition noted.
