The founder of the Silverbird Group, Ben Murray-Bruce, has lauded President Bola Tinubu for the initiative to construct the 700Km Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway.
As the project which is supervised by the Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, has received nationwide praise and condemnation in some quarters, Murray-Bruce has pitched his tent in support of the former.
Tweeting as @benmurraybruce on Sunday, with a video captioned, ‘A new era in Nigeria’s transportation history has begun. Watch to find out. There has never been anything like this,” the former federal lawmaker who represented the Bayelsa East Senatorial District from 2015 to 2019, described the project as “proof of the transformative power of visionary leadership by President Bola Tinubu.”
The media executive also described Umahi as a man of “dedication at the helm of affairs.”
He said, “This highway will slash travel times, reduce transportation costs and increase access to markets and resources,” adding that the road project will be a “game changer for investors, entrepreneurs and travellers.”
While noting that the N13 trillion project will bring about economic growth, Murray-Bruce said Tinubu is “crafting a legacy of prosperity and growth,” while the highway will be a “symbol of hope for a brighter future.”
Governors of Bayelsa, Rivers, Cross River, Edo, and Delta states have lauded the President for initiating the construction of the coastal highway project.
This was at the 12th gathering of South-South governors, also known as BRACED Commission Governor Council (Bayelsa, Rivers, Akwa-Ibom, Cross River, Edo and Delta), convened in the conference hall of the Bayelsa State Government House in Yenagoa on Tuesday, April 31, 2024.
On Wednesday, Umahi disclosed that the FG would commence the payment of N2.75 billion in compensation to property owners affected by the demolition necessary for the construction of the coastal highway which spans from channel 0 to channel 3.
